There are ways to prevent acne from occurring and then there are remedies to treat acne that has already occurred. In our day to day routines, it becomes a necessity to present ourselves confidently in order to get a job, deal with people, get work done and most importantly, feel comfortable in our own skin. Unfortunately, acne is something that somewhere lowers our self-esteem and whether we are comfortable with our appearance or not, looking in the mirror does leave us with concerns. However, people keep trying different dermatologists to treat acne but not everybody can afford that. There are many natural remedies that take very little of the effort and material to get rid of it. All you have to do is make it a routine and follow it religiously so that the effects start to show. Although there are countless remedies available online, through beauty bloggers but not every remedy suits all skin types. Do you have to first apply a patch and check if it suits your skin and then make it a routine. Here are my favorite picks that are easy and less time taking to follow.
Coconut Oil
One of my favorite ingredients is the coconut oil that offers such diverse uses. Not only is it suitable for the hair but also the skin. This is due to its antibacterial properties and these antibacterial properties are due to an acid called the Lauric acid that is present in it. In fact, its used in different forms too, for example. Coconut cream is also a popular product and is used to keep the skin moisturized and smooth. Similarly, coconut oil can be used to cleanse the skin and kill the bacteria on the skin that causes the breakout.
Lavender Oil
If you want to apply something to your face that not only makes your skin flawless but also smells so good that it leaves you mesmerized then lavender oil is what you’re looking for. Lavender oil is characterized by its relaxation qualities. For acne, it is especially beneficial for people who had severe acne that leaves scars and spots. Moreover, it also regenerates skin cells which help in removing sunspot, making the skin tone monotonous and leaving it spotless! Another added advantage of the lavender oil is its anti-inflammation qualities that also work on reducing swelling that may have been caused by acne.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been gaining popularity among not only good skin lovers but also fitness freaks. Apparently, it helps in keeping the stomach tight and flat. However, for acne, it is beneficial because of its antibacterial and anti-virus characteristic. It is basically fresh apple juice in its unfiltered form. Like lavender oil, it also is a good anti-inflammation source so eventually, it may even prevent your skin from acne scars. However, you must use it as directed, especially on sensitive skin. For normal skin, ideally 3 parts water and 1 part apple cider vinegar is recommended and for sensitive skin, it is recommended to increase the water quantity. Apply it only for 5 to 10 seconds on your skin with a cotton ball and then rinse it off with water.
While these are a few of the ingredients that are sufficient on their own, there are some remedies that are used by mixing multiple ingredients together. These mixtures are mostly used as mask or scrubs. Here are a few of my favorite ones!
Honey and Cinnamon Mask
You skin mostly needs antioxidants agents to reduce acne and two of the best sources are honey and cinnamon. These two ingredients also have the ability to fight acne with their anti-inflammatory properties. This is most suitable for the skin that has recently started forming acne. It then prevents the skin from forming more acne. Use two parts honey and one part cinnamon to form a paste, leave the mask on for about 10 to 15 minutes or until it dries off a little. Rinse it with water later.
Green Tea, Honey, Lemon and Sugar Mask
Green tea is also known for its high antioxidant properties. You must already know that drinking it as your morning cup of tea offers great health benefits but you probably don’t know that applying it to your skin can also help reduce acne. A combination of green tea with honey, lemon, and sugar forms a mask that can be applied to the skin using a brush or your fingertips while massaging in all areas of your skin. Keep massaging for about 1 to 2 minutes and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off with water.
Turmeric Powder, Raw Milk and Honey
Another mask that not only prevents skin from breaking out but also makes it appear radiant and glowy is this one! Mix one part each of turmeric powder and three parts of raw milk. Mix it together to form a paste and apply it to the skin, leaving it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Remember that it might leave some turmeric yellowish marks on your fingertips. These can be removed using a toner.
Just honey is enough to make the skin is clean. Honey contains natural ingredients that are cleansing and antibacterial. Although it is a natural product, there are some types of facial skin that do not suit it.
The honey and cinnamon mask worked wonders for me! But the No.1 way to remove acne is by changing your lifestyle a.k.a eat healthier food and a lot of greens and water! Thanks for the post was really educative
Well ill try it out, but personally i just believe in washing of face with mild cream soap and water every morning and evening
Turmeric and honey works very well for me. Even fades the scars afterwards. Thanks so much @samboy for sharing. I didnt know the yellow stains on the fingers could be removed with a toner.
