Justice is about equality, fairness, getting what one deserves or getting ones rights as a human. A man wants to be treated fairly wherever he is or whatever his status is in the society. Be it be in his/ her workplace, or in a courtroom or in any restaurant. One should not be judged by the colour of their skin or the clothes they wear, but sadly in the modern society one is judged harshly for the colour of their skin or by the clothes one is wearing. A little black boy and a little black girl should be treated equally by the society as the little white boy and a little white girl.
According to Theodore Roosevelt:
“Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong”.
What is Justice?
In today’s society it is not easy to achieve justice or fairness. Every individual in the society has his/ her own definition of justice. It can loosely be defined as the ideal of moral equality or fairness. In a way that one will get a reward for his/ her good deed and a punishment for his/ her bad deed. However the true nature of justice is to fairly consider the right without any fear and regardless of power, money, wealth and identity.
As Elie Wiesel wisely said:
“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest”.
Injustice due to Power:
The injustice in the world today is due the power lend to the wrong people, this power is what safeguards a man from getting caught for doing wrong. Fair play would be, if even the president of the United States commits a crime he/ she should be jailed for it. Justice is equality, equal rights for everyone, a poor man with no wealth and money when asks for justice should not be ignored. Countries who distribute wealth and goods equally among its citizens are practicing distributive justice.
As Baron De Montesquieu wisely said:
“An injustice to one is a threat that is made to all”.
Hindrance in the path of Justice:
What exactly is getting in the way of justice or fair play? Is it power? Is it money? Or is it both. A man with a high status in society when commits a crime is not jailed and is rather let go of, why? Is it because he has power or is it that money matters more than justice. Similarly, a man with no power or status when commits a crime is jailed, or when a man of low status asks for justice, he is ignored. Money is the hindrance a man with low status is not getting justice. Justice is supposed to be free of cost and equal for everyone. Every person on this planet deserves justice, be it a child or an old man. A man with power should be treated equally as the man with wit no power because everyone deserves impartial and equal treatment.
A World without Justice:
A world can never be a better place without justice, human life and money are not equal, and money cannot buy one happiness. One should prefer a human life over anything else. Power and status of a man should be denied and only the matter should be highlighted when talking about justice.
According to the Swiss Author, Elias Canetti:
“Justice requires that everyone should have enough to eat. But it also requires that everyone should contribute to the production of food”.
Conclusion:
The topic of justice often remains hard … as people do not often agree to what they deserve or what they do not, in which case one wants reasonable decision made. That may be the reason why the image personified of justice is usually a blindfold. One wants blindfolded justice, but if the government fails to provide one his justice the society may become unstable. In the end, justice has become a rarity in our times.
As Thomas Jefferson says:
“It is reasonable that everyone who asks for justice should do justice”.
Well done .. beautiful words

Excellent write-up on what justice is. I particularly liked this line:
It's crazy to me how much injustice is in the world and at the hands of people appointed to power. It's a pretty sad state of things that hopefully can be righted
Good article !!
Charity begins at home. We need to change ourselves. Be it small things that nobody cares about. But we need to be just with everyone, most importantly with ourselves. Then we can expect from others.
one equation to life is fairness, life isn't fair... so we have to accept that justice also isn't fair or perfect.. but we still need law and stability in our society. Great article as usual.
