Trust - a fragile pillar

in #life7 years ago

Many would argue that it is best to forget the past, but can you actually forget is the question. Telling to forget is easy, put yourself in the situation and ask yourself if you would be able to forget it, I am pretty sure that you won't be able to. It is very difficult to forget the injustice that has happened to you.

Trust is the only pillar on which the base of relationship stands and when trust is broken there is no way the relationship is going to survive. My friend thought it was easy to fool his wife when he was having an affair with a young office intern. He thought his wife was too naive to find out, but call it woman insticts, she had noticed the change in behavior right from the very first day.

To make sure that his wife doesn't get a hint of what he was doing, he made her feel like a princess. The sex was hotter than it was before, his attitude was way better than it was, he took her out shopping and actually this all made her suspect him more. It all went on for 4 months with his wife silently looking for evidence. She played along being a happy young wife till she had gathered enough evidence from his phone gallery and Wattsapp texts.

It hit him like a hard blow when she showed the evidence to his mother and father and they chose to support their daughter in law over son. He told them she was just blaming him, but her stock of evidence proved otherwise.

His parents told him to divorce her and get out of the house while she would stay with them as their daughter. Meanwhile the girl at the office got engaged to her long time boyfriend. My friend had lost everything, his wife, his parents and now also his girl friend. He was devastated, he went back to his wife and asked for forgiveness, did she forgive? Yes, she did, after much insistence of his parents. But, nothing is same like before.

Their relationship has changed completely. It is just too mechanical. My friend has changed a lot. He has learnt his lesson and has become very loyal, but she just cannot behave like before. There is a crack in their relationship that would never be filled even with abundance of love.

My friend has to suffer in this pain for life for the blunder he did. I wish, he would have been a little more mature in handling his marriage. Some months of fun has ruined his life long happiness. He has lost her trust.
