Does Coca-Cola Taste Better Out Of The Bottle Or Is It The Placebo Effect?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

So, yesterday I found myself hanging my nose over the glass bottles of Coca-Cola which were beautifully presented in the supermarket refrigerator. Without hesitation, my husband grabbed them and put them in the trolley.

"Why are we buying these, they have full sugar. We don't drink full sugar." I was trying to make a point but I still wanted the drink.

"Well, there is no sugar -free ones. I can drink it, it's just a bit bloaty." (yes that is our made up word)

Anyway, we get home and carry on the discussion about Coca-Cola as we are quite clearly sad individuals.

" Is it the glass that makes it taste better do you think? We could have just got a bottle of coke zero and chucked it in a glass."

"It wouldn't taste the same though."

" It's because of the branding with you though and the presentation. You won't even go in Aldi because it hasn't the brand names you like and you won't even try the food because you're sure you won't like it."

"Sarah, it's because I don't want to be shopping for food that I'm not impressed with and then walk down the next isle to find a bloody motorcycle helmet."

"What the...?" I rolled my eyes with the ridiculousness of that statement.

"Well they just chuck random things in the aisles and it's daft. I mean why would I want a motor cycle helmet."

"Well maybe your not the only person that goes into Aldi."

"I bet there's not many more."

I gave him a smack and I would just like to point out I go to Aldi reguarly and it's one of my favourite supermarkets.

Anyway back to the discussion. Do you think Coca-Cola tastes better out of a glass, or is it a placebo thing ?

Sort:

Different bottlers use different ingredients actually. Here the bottles are made in Mexico with real cane sugar and the cans are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. It's a massive taste difference to me.

Correct and it's basically the same with many of these beverages. Even the water in a location can affect the taste.

As for plastic vs glass... I'm going with the theory that glass is much less likely to influence the taste than plastic.

Besides, I'm a Diet Pepsi-holic. Coke tastes like cough syrup to me. ;~D

Oh i didnt realise. I dont like full sugar drinks to stodgy but didnt know about the sweeteners in different packaging
