Hey there, Steemians! This week we have had our hands full with a bunch of exciting projects. One of our projects this week has been listing items to post for our February social project, #BenefitsofHomeschooling. According to Facebook, yesterday five years ago was the first day our homeschool journey began. Since then, we have never looked back and everyday, we feel more and more grateful that we continue to chose this education path. Here are three new #BenefitsofHomeschooling (continued from a previous post):
#BenefitsofHomeschooling #4: Learning is our way of life
Being homeschooled, we are encouraged to explore new ideas, regardless of the subject. For example, we have written several children's books and we wanted to know how to use our own art in an upcoming book. As a result, we've spent time exploring Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop. We now use these programs everyday - not because it's part of our curriculum, but because we enjoy learning something that allows us to explore and expand on our ideas. Homeschool learning is our way of life and we wouldn't want it any other way.
#BenefitsofHomeschooling #5: Time for Stillness
One big benefit we find to homeschooling is the time we get to create for stillness. Our morning ritual is to curl up in front of a good book or sudoku puzzle, with a reasonably sized cup of coffee or cocoa, and start the day quietly. This helps us to focus and relax. Sometimes an hour will go by before anyone says a word. This time for stillness recharges our creative batteries and we are then ready to execute our homeschool tasks with confidence.
#BenefitsofHomeschooling #6: Global Friendships
In a public school setting, friendships are often based more on proximity and age groups than common interests. Spending time with people in a similar proximity, such as a classroom, is not the same as having friends with similar interests. In homeschool, our friendships are based off of similar interests, regardless of age, proximity or nationality. We have some friends as young as 4 yet we also have friends in their 20's. Our friends are as far North as High Level, Alberta, as far South as Rotorua, New Zealand and a lot more in between. We're grateful for the friendships we've made as a traveling homeschool family and hope to make many more friends as we expand on our Saturn projects.
One other non-official subject we have been practicing is connecting on social media. So far out of all of the social platforms we have tested, Steemit is in the lead for reaching more of quality people and has helped us make some crypto. Hi, I'm so glad I found this post. I've been looking for posts on homeschooling for a few days now. I homeschooled my son for 16 years and now I want to help advocate for homeschooling on Steemit.

BTW, one of my favorite parts of homeschooling was the lack of age segregation. We spent time with people of all ages and backgrounds.
