I have always looked up to people like Steve Jobs and a few others whenever I have needed some motivation in my journey of life. All of us need a little dose of it from time to time to keep moving forward.
Steve's way of looking at life has always resonated well with me and so I keep going back to his life lessons whenever I feel the need to. I was on YouTube today watching some of his old videos and came across an absolute gem.
In the video he was talking about the profoundess of the realisation that everything that is built around us, was built by people that are no smarter than us and that we all can have an equal or greater impact on the world.
This is a great lesson in self confidence we all can learn as it is easy for anyone in today's world to be filled with self-doubts and to question whether one could leave behind anything useful at all.
Other People Are No Smarter Than You
When we grow up, we constantly realise slowly how the world and life in general works. We witness the things that have already been built and marvel at the people who made them.
We get to know about the immense, ground-breaking changes that people in history have brought to society and we laud their perseverance to do so. We also come to know about what other people are doing right now in various fields that will impact the human race in some great ways.
Then we look at ourselves and can't help but think what we have to offer or whether we are smart enough to bring anything profound into the world that will have at least some measurable impact.
This self doubt is quite common and this is where this lesson from Steve comes into play. We all need to realise that other people are not any smarter than us and we too can contribute as all of us have unique capabilities. We just need a vision and a path towards it.
Self Confidence - Your Ladder To Success
Once we realise that we have what it takes to achieve anything we set our sights on, that fills us with self confidence, which is very much required if we are to set on a path to achieve something.
In Steve's words, that realisation will change you forever. Often times we tend to veer off track based on someone's opinion and that is where most people usually fail. Believe in yourself as you owe it to yourself to complete your journey.
I would like to end this post with Steve's quotes as I believe he says it perfectly.
When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money. That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it… Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.
The way I see it, you're always just one experience away from becoming a totally different person. You may indeed think that you are less than other people, but if you invest more into yourself and less into things that don't really matter, you're all set for a fulfilling life.
True that! Experiences are what shape us.
Didn't he also say "never settle"? Steve had a gift of bringing out the best in people and making you want to stretch that bit further.
Yeah he really had some of the best advices on life and as you said, had a gift of bringing out the best in people.
Really nicely articulated :)
