Do You Think Money Is The Only Wealth? Think Again

I think it is pretty safe to assume that most people in this world would want to be wealthy. We all have this image in our heads where we are living a life where we don't have to worry about money at all and life is just peaceful.

We spend our whole lives running after that image, and there is nothing wrong with that per se. After all, money is indispensable considering how our very survival depends on it.

Most people tend to think though, that money is the only form of wealth that we should be chasing and sacrifice their other wealths in this pursuit. Yes, it is quite difficult to be in possession of all these other forms of wealth, all at the same time, but we owe it to ourselves to at least keep a balance.

In this post, I want to talk about the other forms of wealth and how important it is to concentrate on building them up as well.

A Lot More Than Money

So, the first form of wealth is of course money. It's the amount you hold in your account or as cash or even as investments. It is often said that money makes the world go round and it is quite obvious why we run after it so much.

The second form is Societal Wealth or in other words, your status in the society. Now, don't assume that you need power or money for this as most believe. You can be a contributing member of the society, helping people in various ways and be an influence and gain status that way too.

The third form is Physical Wealth and this includes your health, both mental and physical. Often times we sacrifice this wealth in order to accumulate the other forms of wealth but ultimately we don't get to enjoy what we accumulate because we don't have the physical wealth. Kind of ironic!

The fourth form is Time Wealth and this includes the free time you have that you use to do the things you love and with the people that you love. This is another form of wealth that people sacrifice the most in order to earn the other forms of wealth.

A truly wealthy person is someone who has a balance of all for of these. Having only money but not the time or health to enjoy it, renders it useless. The same goes for others as well. So, be mindful of accumulating the right kind and amount of wealth in your lives.

Nice post about money, time & health, money is not important all time, but sometime health become most important when money can't do & time will never comeback.

That's true :)

Having a lot of money is not something that can guarantee us happiness ...
There are many people who have never been happy with the much money they have, instead their lives end tragically ...

We don't need to make money, live simply,as long as we can eat everyday already lucky..hehe

Yep, that's true! But on the other hand, we also need money for survival and not having enough causes despair as well.

I hold a fair amount in gemstones - I see your looking at philosophical types of IMG_9667.JPGwealth though

I think all types of wealth are important. :)

I think that if I was first rich I could give the best of me even trying to give all of myself to others, this I really would encourage both to be comfortable with myself, and to try to be good to those around me, but I already I have to struggle to find food and drink, to find a roof that covers me, how do I think of the rest if first I can not satisfy my basic needs to survive?

That is so true. There are many who would help others tremendously if they had riches. But unfortunately many of them are not able to sustain themselves in the first place.

Good points here. It is like you said best to balance all of these forms of wealth. And I feel like it could be a snowball effect with these specifc types of wealth, for example having strong "physical wealth" will help prevent cancers, heart disease and other ilnesses, and all of those things cost time, and actual money, and I think societal wealth to a degree.

Another wealth I would like to add is Internal Wealth. External wealth is more like what your saying here, and external wealth is very important. Internal wealth is more emotional, and mental wealth. Not mentaly needing anything, being happy in the present moment, etc. Awesome post man! I enjoy reading your essays.

Yeah, it is really important to balance all of these. One can influence the other in many ways. And yeah, we do need to focus on internal factors as well like emotional well being because that has an effect on the other factors as well. Thank you for the kind words man :)

Money is not important, character is the most important thing. As swammi Vivekananda said" money lost nothing lost , health lost something lost and character lost everything lost. Important of character is most important coz it is only which stand with you in time if difficulty. Character is important too. But that doesn't make money not important. One needs to survive and fulfil the basic needs for which one needs money.

I for one will invest all my money into experiences as physical collateral makes me none the happier.
