A few days ago I wrote about the latest Tesla Model 3 electric car and how I thought it was going to mark the beginning of the end of gasoline cars. While doing my reading about the newly launched car, I came across several interviews of Elon Musk, the man behind the company.
Elon Musk has always been an inspirational figure for me and the more I read about him and watch interviews of him, the more I am left with a brighter and positive outlook towards the future.
There is no doubt that he is a visionary with his role as CEO at Tesla, SpaceX and Neuralink and also as chairman and co-chairman of SolarCity and OpenAI respectively, all of which are doing some really groundbreaking work. Even if only one of these companies go on to be highly successful, he will have changed humanity forever. Imagine if all of them reach their full potential.
Throughout his life, he has always tried to challenge the status quo and despite harsh criticisms and skepticism, he has repeatedly done what most thought impossible. There’s no doubt there are a lot of lessons that you can learn from his life and apply it to your own.
Nothing Beats Hard Work
As I mentioned above, Musk is handling the work of three companies as CEO. That demands a lot of time, energy and focus. You can only imagine his work week and how hard he must work.
It is true that there is no substitute for hard work. If you want to achieve success or anything for that matter, hard work is the way to do it. Very rarely do we see people get lucky and achieve success overnight.
In an interview, Musk says, “If others are working 40 hours a week, and you are working 100 hours a week and even if you’re working on the same things, you will achieve in 4 months what they achieve in a year.”
The road to success is a long, arduous one and one filled with obstacles at every corner. It takes blood, sweat and tears to reach the pinnacle but once you do, it will all have been worth it.
Do What You Love
This may sound like a cheesy motivational line and something that most people do not even consider to be an option in their lives but trust me, you should be doing what you love in life.
Only then will you care about what you do and put in your A-game every single time. When you wake up in the morning, you wouldn’t feel forced to work but you would wake up with a sense of satisfaction about what you do in life.
Each one us is passionate about one thing or the other and we owe it to ourselves and our future to at least give it a shot. The beginnings are always the hard part but when you get past that, I think you will be proud of yourself.
Life is too short to get stuck in something that you don’t believe in and keep doing it over and over again just for the sake of having the security of a job. In my own opinion, you should at least try to give your dreams a chance.
Hardships Are Not Full Stops
Nobody’s life is a perfectly smooth experience. There are potholes, twists and turns and sometimes there isn’t even a path to walk on. There are good times and bad, sunshine and rainfall, day and night as they say.
The hardship in life are not full stops but rather commas that transition you to the next bit. Elon Musk himself has faced a lot of failure. At one point, he faced so many at once. SpaceX had three rocket failures in a row, Tesla almost went bankrupt and he got divorced.
Still, every time he has managed to defeat the harsh circumstances and shown to the world that failures do not mean the end. They are just temporary blips in the road.
In fact hardships are important in a person’s life because they help you improve, they shape you into a better, stronger person and get you ready for the future and what’s to come.
Constantly Question Yourself
Questioning oneself is something not many of us do. Rarely do we sit and question every single meaningful aspect of our lives and put them under the magnifying glass to be examined.
Doing so is absolutely important however. It’s an ever evolving world we live in and the only way we are going to maintain the edge is by constantly evolving ourselves, becoming better versions of our own selves.
Even Elon Musk, who has already achieved so much in his life is not settling and is constantly striving to improve himself. In his own words, “It's very important to have a feedback loop, where you're constantly thinking about what you've done and how you could be doing it better.”

Love it!
Very well written.
Elon is definitely my idol!
Thank you for the kind words :)
You bet, it was great share!
Amazing guy and so much to learn from!
How about these?
Being an environmental hypocrite. Talk about saving the planet but personally use more electricity than an African village.
Use batteries in your car that are made from materials that are obtained by child labor and strip mining.
Leaching off the government for tax credits.
Ya I agree, a lot of the so called advocates are the biggest hypocrites. I heard Tim Cook say something about equality, but they are a huge supporter, of child labor in china, and so does it only matter if it happens in the U.S. Or are you just saying it because you are popular.
very true
Agree on that, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't turn into cleaner energy. Fossil energy is killing the planet. We as a society just need to focus on downshifting, passive energy housing and getting products and services from transparent environmental companies.
Agreed. We've gotta crawl before we can walk. The trick is making sure we don't get too used to crawling!
While transitioning from fossil fuel to solar/hydrogen/wave/geothermal/nuclear fission/nuclear fusion/or any new sort of renewable energy, it will be a tough process. Ultimately, we will not be depending on fossil fuels in the next 100 years. In my opinion, Elon was trying to realize the future earlier rather than waiting for the real crisis to happen.
Elon Musk is the man. Love the way he thinks. There's no one else like him.
Your right @wphelpandfix Liking this comment :)

Thanks for reading :)
Good post
Thanks :)
A Tesla car, the Powerwall and the Solar roof system from him that is a good combination you can drive for free no cost for gas or power for sure a cool setup.
yeah, ultimately we should all transition to solar power as much as possible and I think that is the direction we are heading.
Yes for sure the problem is that it is still very expensive. I read a article that they will create solar panels with 3D printers and that this could drop the the price I hope to see that in the future.
Yeah, I know but everyday, it is getting more and more affordable. It happens with every technology. At one point, it will be so much cheaper than fossil fuels that it would be a no brainer and I'm sure we will reach there much faster than everyone thinks.
Yes you are right .
I read your post about Tesla Model 3. I really liked it. This post is also very interesting and motivating. Great lessons. Thank you very much dear @sauravrungta for sharing!
Thank you so much for reading :)
Courage is the primary quality I see in Musk. He's not afraid to run through walls!
Yes, that's an important quality required in a leader. Otherwise the world can't change.
Yes very important ! Do what you love and stop working when you are finished not when you are tired.
exactly! that is really important :)
He's inspirational. Thanks for these reminders :)
He sure is! Thanks for reading :)
Superp post @sauravrungta just let me add my insights on the points you mention. 1- those who believe in luck will not achieve any thing in life on the other hand who believe in hard work will reach what they aim and even further more. 2-failures,obstacles and anything that prevent us from moving forward are just tests because if you don't endure the pain you didnt deserve to win the road to sucess never has been a straight line and never will be. 3-we have to ask ourselves every day why we do that? Why is this important ? That't add a meaning and clear our vision in order to set priorities in life. Have a wonderful day .
That was really inspirational and I completely agree. Success requires a lot of hard work and determination :)
I made a recent post about the meaning of life
life lesson from the movie "into the wild " hope you take a look @sauravrungta
We need to make sure we ask good questions of ourselves. For example if something doesn't turn out the way we hoped. Some will ask themselves "how come everything I do is wrong" instead of "what did I learn." The quality of our questions matter they will either confirm the status quo or move us forward.
That's a brilliant point. we need to ask ourselves the right questions. It's easy to ask the wrong ones all the time and that is a reason why many people are stuck where they are.
Thinking ahead of time, hustling, resilient... he's literally the Iron Man.
Yes he is! No wonder he is referred to as the real world Tony Stark.
This post does not represent the objective truth. the tesla ceo is his angel face but his coercive push for brain implant make him is one of the most dangerous individuals on this planet as we speak
Technological Immortality, Think Again? What Musk And Kurzweil Don't Say And Why Does It Matter, on my blog, scroll down, i have many blogs speaking of the true nature of AI heavily promoted by elon musk among others
I think the reason why he is pushing for the neural lace is because he is terrified of AI and what it can become in the future. In such a scenario, it is always handy to have an option to just evolve ourselves from humans to bionic humans so that we can outperform or at least match any rogue sentient AI.
Very inspirational!
Thank you :)
