I have always maintained that I think we humans live life as if we are immortal beings. There is this illusion of infinite time and so we keep pushing even some important tasks/goals to the future. I guess, not knowing exactly when we'll die is one of the major reasons.
But for this post, I want to talk about the fact that we humans also tend to think that we don't have enough time. I mean, how complex are we, right? I guess it's the duality that makes it all beautiful?
Anyways, we like to be seen as "busy" individuals. Even if we really are not. In fact, we fool ourselves into believing that we simply don't have time for something or the other.
As a result, you always have the perfect excuse for not reading that book for instance or not learning that musical instrument that you had been wanting to for so long! You just don't have time. Well, you do have more time than you think and you can do a lot more than you think!
Use Time Gaps
Time gaps are not some hidden dimensions where time doesn't exist and that you can take advantage of to catch up on things. I wish that were real but it is not. Well, as far as I know, that is!
Anyways, years ago, I had read this book that talked about the concept of "time gaps". Basically, the idea is that throughout the day, there are many time slots where we are actually not doing anything at all. It is these gaps that can be used to do more.
For instance, if you're taking a cab to work or somewhere else, you can use that time to read a book or listen to a podcast. If you're waiting for someone at a restaurant or other place, you can use it for something else. You can probably even use the time you are just standing in a lift to do something of value.
The point is, you need to be mindful of any time gaps you may have and use it wisely to accomplish those tasks that you keep avoiding just because you can't incorporate them into your daily routine. Doing so will help you make the best use of your time and you will get more done than you thought was possible!
