pronoun: nothing; plural noun: nothings 1. not anything; no single thing."I said nothing" synonyms:not a thing, not anything, nil, zero, naught/nought adjective in formal adjective: nothing having no prospect of progress; of no value."he had a series of nothing jobs"adverb: nothing

During the day I was quite sidetracked. I was thinking about my daily post, and for the first time in a while, I could come up with absolutely no topic to write about.  NOTHING.  Seeing that I could not find a suitable topic, I decided to to give myself this challenge, and to write about the word NOTHING.

Today was definitely not by day.  I would have preferred staying in bed just doing absolutely NOTHING! Nothing in particular happened to make me feel this way but I was just not in the mood to do anything.  Which would result in actually doing nothing. (I was not motivated to teach, and the students saw that, so they actually gave me a break. Sorry guys!)

So here goes:

There are many complaints about man just doing NOTHING.  People stand by and watch our beautiful earth die, and they do NOTHING.  People talk about ways we can change this, but talking is not enough.  Things need to change, but NOTHING significant is being done.

Then there are those that complain they have NOTHING to do.  When they are presented with the gift of a precious blank hour or two, they simply have NOTHING to do.

To do NOTHING is a free gift of independence, that is cast away by doing  SOMETHING

Something always gets in the way of doing NOTHING.  I speak for myself, but I shudder when I see people  throw away their perfectly planned holidays by doing something horrendous like playing card games just to pass time.  For my own part, I can never get enough nothing to do.....

We need to DE-stress people.   You don't have to turn into a monk sitting on top of a mountain meditating, but we need time to unwind, find ourselves again, and to do just NOTHING.  We need to free our minds, and think about how we can undo the harm we have already done.  Just think...and maybe do something about it this time.  We can all do something more than what we are currently doing.  So take a break and relax.  Sometimes it is just necessary to think.  Today are one of those days. Guess what I am going to do now??? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  ZILCH.  NADA!

Great post. This book, Zen Teaching of Emptiness, taught me about nothing. Hope you get the chance to read it if you have not. :)

I have not read this. On my way to start searching for this book . Following you!

I LOVE doing NOTHING - every now and then for a long time....

does that also apply to the word "anything"?

Nothing < Partial thing < A thing <= Something <= Anything <= Many Things < All things < EveryThing

I. C. Cool way of showing it
