Many objects from the architectural heritage of the province of Verona, which is in Italy, occupies an honorable place in the spiritual life of the vellians. The temple architecture of this region contains important examples of structures in which the periods of development and development of spiritual life are immortalized. In this province there are a lot of temples, chapels and basilicas, in which there is an impression of history. For example, because of the many-numbered churches and palaces, the city of Verona was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. However, outside the city there are places that occupy an important place in the culture of the province. Some of them are complemented by rural landscapes, and some are in harmony with the mountainous terrain, such as the Sanctuary of Our Lady in the Crown.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady in the Crown is in a small settlement of Spiazzi, on the bordering territory between the communes of Caprino Veronese and Ferrara di Monte Baldo. The main architectural feature of the shrine is its location in a deepening on the steep rock of the Monte Baldo mountain. As if between heaven and earth, this place is ideal for those who make a pilgrimage for the purpose of prayers amid silence, surrounded by nature. In addition, a considerable number of guests wishing to see the Sanctuary of Our Lady in the Crown is due to the close location of Lake Garda, the largest in Italy.

But the church underwent significant changes in the 1970s. In 1974, the architect Gvido Tisato was entrusted with a project for a general restructuring, which involved the dismantling of a large part of the building, in which the most important and important parts of the church were preserved. Reconstruction was carried out from 1975 to 1978. On June 4, 1978, Bishop Giuseppe Carraro consecrated the new Sanctuary of Our Lady in the Crown and a new altar. Four years later the pope was given the title of "small basilica" by the Pope.
