And just like that the power goes out

While sitting on the computer browsing the internet a loud lightning and thunder combination ensues. Not even half a second later, the sound of a transformer blowing can be heard throughout the entire neighborhood. The room goes dark, the fan stops moving, the television turns off, and the internet gets disconnected.

Moments later, Morgan goes to her father and says, “Dad, it seems the power has gone out.” His response of “no shit, sherlock” has everyone laughing. Whenever doors get opened, they should be shut immediately to help keep the cold air in the house. Refrigerators should not be opened at all unless absolutely necessary as it might cause the food to spoil faster. When entering a new room, it is always funny when the light switch gets flipped only to then realize the power is out.

Thankfully the stove is gas, so dinner can still be cooked without a hitch. There is always the option of going to eat if there is an open restaurant, but it’s more fun to cook in the dark only assisted by a few candles. Plus, everyone will be attempting to eat at the same few restaurants.

As time goes by, people start to get more restless by the minute. Voices start to get a little more strained and people get agitated much easier. The storm will pass on by, but who knows how long it will take for it to stop. Then the question becomes, how long until the power is restored throughout the city. Hopefully it is only a few hours at most but there have been some cases before where it has been a few days.

At least the internet still works as does Steemit! That is the only thing that matters now!
