Back in 2009, I was completely enamored with a band called Emmure - so much so, that I got my first tattoo, their logo, on the back of my calf when I was 15.
Fast forward a few years, and after my own band got signed, we got the opportunity to tour with them. I was excited beyond words to open a tour for a band that I’d admired for so long. We made friends, and I kept in contact with their drummer Mark for awhile.
In 2015, everyone in the band quit altogether, aside from the vocalist.
A few months later, I asked Mark what their plans for the future were. He told me the guys all still wanted to play together, they just needed a new vocalist. Since he and I had been talking for awhile, he sent me a demo they’d written, and told me to sing over it.
He showed it to the rest of the guys, and almost overnight I was in the band. I’m now playing with a bunch of guys that I’ve looked up to for years and I couldn’t be happier.
This is Painless.
