It is not about what you get, it is about who you become.

Hey guys,

You may have noticed by inactivity. I would like to get more active on steemit, it is one of my favourite things to do in life lol, serious. However, this is my Masters in Engineering. The responsibilities are already pouring in. I have to mentor Level 2 students for a presentation.

I also have been allocated in a hard and very long project. On top of this, I as a Mechanical Engineer student has been put into an aerospace project, which was not even my 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice. I have told my friends about this and they ask me to request the University to change my project. However, despite this I am choosing to stay in. Here is a few reasons why:

1.) It is group project where we have to design a hyper-sonic passenger aircraft. We will aim to build a small model of it to test in a wind tunnel facility. So the project, although is a lot of work, is also interesting. Maybe my work contributes into a real hyper-sonic passenger plane where you can fly in.

2.) This is my final year at the University. The next step is getting a job and continuing with my life. I really want to get used difficult problem solving, consistent hard work, time management, work management etc... I really want to be as prepared as possible for my future.

Many times we try to look for the easy way out. An easier project might make it easier for me to get a 1st. In this project, although I could get a 1st, maybe I might not. But I personally think getting a 2.1 while being in difficult projects where I can gain various skills and ability to work under pressure. I believe this is real skills, real knowledge and real education, unlike exams. I personally believe these skills will help me not just in jobs, but in life potentially too.

We have all met people that might not perform well in exams, might have never got an A or B. On paper they don't seem like much. However, when you meet them, you realise that they have something about them that gravitates peoples attention when he does something; whenever they speak, people listen, they have wisdom, confidence, charismatic and real life knowledge. This comes from real world experience and knowledge, exams cannot provide this. These people didn't get much of a grade but they became awesome.

I want to be like this. I am not saying that doing a higher degree is bad and I am not insulting anyone. However, I have seen masters and PhD students who don't have those qualities that I described in my previous paragraph. This is why I am going to go on with this projects. I have not been able to manage other activities well with my University although it improved, such as going to my gym. In this year I will try to post on steemit as often as possible, while trying to make as much YouTube videos as possible, going to gym while I do well in my Masters. It will be a challenge for me. But I want to become a better version of myself.
