Happy Monday with the bubo-bubo

Happy Monday to you all! Maybe some of you don't know that this beautiful animal that we usually called "Owl" is named "bubo bubo" in the Linneaus classification ^_^

Yesterday, at the Medieval Fest, I saw this beautiful animal (there were a group of Falconers) and it was an experience that reminded me at the Harry Potter movies!

Here in Italy we call him "gufo reale" ( means "Royal owl"), but he's known as European eagle-owl. It's one of the largest species of owl, they are nocturnal predator and some of them can be 75 cm (about 30 ") tall!

This owl has beautiful big orange eyes and funny ear tufts, but one of the most interesting thing is to see how he move his head ^_^

I have to say that I prefer to see these animals in freedom, in the forest, but at the same time I think it's really important to give people (especially children) the opportunity to watch them and I'm pretty sure that the Falconers love their animals.
