An earthquake is a vibration that occurs on the earth's surface due to the sudden release of energy from within that creates a seismic wave. Earthquakes are generally caused by the movement of the earth's plates.
The researchers say, the shift of the earth's plate occurs at any time as an assumption about the saturation of the earth.
However, it didn't become a disaster and only a major earthquake caused the disaster. Earthquakes, provided they are not large scale, will not cause damage. In addition, it isn't an earthquake that caused the loss of life but panic and the quality of buildings that can't stand the shocks and easily collapsed causing casualties and property.
The fact is clear about the number of victims and property caused by the disaster. It's too early to forget the disaster that hit our brother in Mexico like yesterday's still visible. We are very sorry and sad, just a deep sense of going to our affected brothers and sisters to always be given the fortitude.
√ Inside the house; the vibrations will be felt for a while. During that time, you should seek the safety of yourself and your family. Go under the table or mattress to protect your body from falling objects. If you turn on the engine then turn it off immediately to prevent fire.
√ In School; protect your head with a bag or book, take cover under the table, do not panic, if an earthquake eases out in sequence from the farthest distance to the door, look for space, do not stand near objects that may collapse due to earthquakes.
√ In the train; hold tightly to the pole so you will not fall if the train is stopped unexpectedly. Be calm following the explanation from the train attendants. Misunderstanding of train officer or station information will result in panic.
√ In the car; when a big earthquake happens, you will feel as though your car's wheels are bare. You will lose control of the car and it's hard to control it. Stay away from the intersection, drag your car carefully and stop. Follow instructions such as car radios. If you have to evacuate then get out of the car.√ In the Shopping Center; don't cause panic or casualties from panic. Follow all instructions from the employee or security guard.
√ On the Mountain or Beach; there is a possibility of landslides from the top of the mountain. Go straight to a safe place. On the beach, danger comes from the tsunami. If you feel the vibrations and signs of a tsunami appear, quickly run to the plateau.
√ Give Help; It's predictable that many people will be injured during a major earthquake, because health workers from hospitals will have difficulty coming to the scene, so be prepared to give first aid to those around you.
√ Listen to Information; when a major earthquake happens, the public is struck by its psyches. To prevent panic, it's important that everyone be calm and act according to the right information. You can get correct information from the authorities. Don't act because the information isn't clear.
Prevention is better than cure, and precautions should start from:
a. counseling to the public about the dangers of the earthquake and how to save themselves in the event of an earthquake.
b. An emergency plan to train family members in the face of earthquakes.
c. New settlements to reduce the level of occupancy density in earthquake-prone areas.
d. Construction of buildings must withstand vibration, especially in areas prone to earthquakes.
e. Take part in rescue training before the earthquake and first aid.
f. Establishment of rescue action groups with training for first aid and other community protection equipment.
