I understand what you are saying, but what is my other better option? Put money in the mail and put a random Haitian address?
I know that not all of the money gets there, as the post stated the Red Cross claims that 91 cents of every dollar get's used for the disaster relief.
I woke up, I felt I couldn't help and this is something small that I could do to TRY to help. If I made no effort this morning then I would have gotten zero results. I honestly wish I could raise the money and go their myself and watch the money go to what I expect it to go to, but since that isn't a realistic option I chose an organization with a positive record. I understand not everyone is going to be fans of the ARC.
I would love to help many people but unfortunately it has just become to hard . . .
Sending clothing requires collections and sorting decontamination etc.
Foodstuffs risk spoilage and large useful things become a logistical nightmare ! ! !
That leaves money and that leaves the situation open to human greed...
It is great you are trying to help, in fact I started a website to report and investigate phony or inefficient charity donation websites and places.
Realistically I would just not be able to get enough people to hear my tiny voice compared to these scam artists who are prepared to spend 20% on marketing and advertising if it is likely to bring in even more dollars to their own bank accounts ! ! !
Sorry not trying to belittle what you are trying to do, but just trying to save caring people from giving to con artists ; apologies . . .
