“Petrichor” is the technical term for this earthy scent. It was coined by two Australian researchers in 1964 for an article in the scientific journal “Nature.” 1964 is also the year The Beatles first album in the US was released, the group hits #1 for the first time on the US singles charts with “I Wanna Hold Your Hand,” and in that same year went on to hold 13 Hot 100 hits at the same time and hold the top 5 positions in the Top 40, launching their popularity in the US. #funfacts
