I took a break as work became overwhelming and Portugal burned. The world basically ignored it, even tourists ignored it, breathtaking plumes of smoke filling the sky as acres of land burned, but what was the big deal? Holiday time, you know? I drifted off, watching the sky, hoping for the best, but the rain did not come. And then there was the roller coaster of Steemit.
I've done a lot since I sat back and looked at Steemit critically. I went out and discovered new friends and new places, such as Quartiera, which has a beautiful beach...
I found a new place to watch the sun set as smoke turned the sky amazing colors...
I made wine for the first time in three years...
I played with my dogs as they ran through what was left of the grass...
e
I literally stopped to smell the roses...
And I took pictures of the moon through a giant telescope...
I rather like what I've been up to. There's life out there, I went out and found it. this is still a place I'll come back to, but it won't be like it was. I have too much to do, a new book to write, and things to see and experience. Oh, I'll definitely be back, but look what I'll miss if I don't occasionally go...PS, it's finally rained. We hope that's put an end to the nightmare of over 700 fires in two days with a 5% loss of land nationally...
