Hello my dear friends! Palanok Castle in Mukacheve is a majestic fortress towering above the city, which is located on the banks of the river Latoritsa. I've told you about him many times. But every time I want to write about Castle more and more. When I have the opportunity, I definitely go with my family to walk around the Castle. Every time we find something new and interesting for us.

This time our children first came to Palanok Castle. Earlier I told that this Castle was built on a mountain of volcanic origin at an altitude of 68 meters.

By the way, for those who have not read my first story about Castle Palanok, I want to tell an interesting legend. In the courtyard of the castle you can see a huge well. There is a legend that in this well there are secret passages that lead to secret dungeons. This well in the 14th century was ordered to be dug by Prince Fyodor Koryatovich. As we know from history, the well was very difficult to dig. People dug deep, but the water did not appear. Then the prince was very upset. The prince did not know what to do and suddenly the devil came to him. The devil asked the Prince for a bag of gold. Unfortunately, the Prince did not have so much gold. Then the prince's assistants suggested that he fool the devil. The prince did this. He threw two coins into the sack and gave them to the devil. The devil was very angry and jumped into the well. Finally, the devil shouted to the Prince: "You will not drink water anyway!". From that time until today, sounds have been heard from the well. They say that there is still a devil there.

See what beautiful landscapes open before our eyes. Mountains, houses .... It's a paradise.

This monument stands on one of the bastions of the Castle. This is a monument "Turul". This monument was established in 2008. According to the story, during the Hungarian battle, this eagle-turul brought a saber to Ferenc Rakoczi.

Thank you @sokoloffa for showing us some insights of western Ukraine. Ukraine is on our to do list and as this place is just next to Slovakia, it seems quite easy to reach as a first destination in the Ukraine coming from western Europe. Looking forward to some more places you have visited!;-)
