Thanks alot @ackhoo yeah she was in alot of pain near the end so glad that is over for her. Her body was falling apart near the end and was quite hard for her to handle.
Yeah my new life in Virginia should be quite the adventure. Really looking forward to moving on to that.

Oh thats great, yeah I would be living in a more rural area. Not looking to live in another city, maybe 45 minutes to an hour from one but surely not in a big city.
Yeah I hear Virginia has the most homesteads out of any state in the US. So looking forward to adding another to the list.

But I handled it one day at a time and was also glad I had some hired help to pitch in along the way. Yep she was there for my my entire life, so was my turn to care for her when she was not doing so well.

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you have a good plan for the future. I live in Michigan but just bought a place in Virginia on Smith Mountain Lake which is in the south west part of the state. I am slowly moving my stuff down there into storage. Hope you find a good spot. The people are friendly, I can tell ya that much.

I hope to find some land with running water via a stream or river on it, or maybe a pond. So hope to join you with a little water as well.
Ah yeah the moving part seems like it will be alot of work. We are still discussing how we plan on doing it. I think hiring a moving truck is the way to go, just need to make sure my road is good enough for a big ol truck.. haha
Yeah people in the South are quite friendly, hope people wave at you when you drive by. That's usually a sign of a really friendly area.

Thank you @dswigle Yes taking care of my mother was a decision I had to make a long time ago, started even before I moved to Georgia. Though her mobility greatly decreased in the recent years and it go a lot harder near the end. Feels good to help her when she needed it, so glad I did. So true, now she no longer needs to deal with the pain and I am glad for that.
Oh cool! Yes I am quite excited to visit the state. Honestly I have never been there, but when I go house hunting I will be out there driving all around.

I've lived in Virginia for most of my life, and I think there's good choices here if you want to live in a less urban area, setup a homestead, etc.
