The World's Best Scissors

in #life7 years ago (edited)
  • Do you know what CRISPR is ?
It means Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Abbreviation for Palindromic Repeats, which refers to a technology that can 'recognize' and cut or edit a specific sequence of a gene.
  • So what is CRISPR in detail?

CRISPR Combines short gene sequences and proteins that can be used to cut and paste DNA, which can be used to find the sequence of interest in billions of genomic sequences.
The technology that is often referred to as gene therapy is the use of this Crispr "gene scissors".
It is an innovative technology that can fix the DNA that is the root cause of the disease. Therefore, this technology is expected to completely change the life of humanity in the 21st century.
There are many other genetic engineering techniques, but the Crispr gene has the word 'Revolution' on top.
  • Why is this technology so special?
    It's because...
Crispr gene scissors are faster, accurate and easier than any other genetic engineering technique.
    And cheaper than anything.
For example, before the Crispr genetic scissors, it took a lot of money and time to get genetically engineered creatures to go through several generations.
If the Crispr gene is manipulated directly on the fertilized egg gene, the genetically modified organism can be made very simple.
It is completely free from the immune response because it changes the internal DNA a little.
It literally puts DNA on the palm of your hand and lets you handle freely.
  • Then why is this technology cheap?
This is because the nature of the Crispr gene scissors is in the immune system of bacteria.
Bacteria also have immune systems that protect themselves from external genes. Bacteria memorize the exogenous gene in a short sequence internally (therefore, there are many sequences other than genes in the genome). Once the DNA of this sequence breaks in again, the bacteria will digest I cut off a DNA.
Crispr is a technique based on the immune system of this germ.
A short gene sequence that recognizes the desired gene and a restriction enzyme set that cuts the DNA is the Crispr gene scissors.
And Because it imitates the immune system of bacteria, it is not complicated, and it is cheap because it is not complicated.
You can also create any number of gene sequences you want to recognize, so you can easily create the desired gene scissors.

Because of this powerful technology, researchers are facing a patent dispute over this technology.

But as I said before, the Crispr gene scissors are not 'invented', but are 'discovered' in the immune system of bacteria.
We can do anything.
A Chinese researcher has developed a pig with little fat as a cyrus.
Muscular cows, bananas that can withstand pests,
Pigs with human cardiac cells
We can do everything that a gene does.
Cancer, AIDS, genetic diseases, etc.
It says that there is a way to cure intractable diseases.
There are also many people who say that it is the 'key' to solve human food problems.
There are even attempts to eradicate, or "extin" pests.

  • We can make a world without mosquitoes or cockroaches!
In fact, researchers in the UK have done experimental design to eradicate mosquitoes in the laboratory.
A Chinese researcher has also reported that the embryo has been experimented with releasing mosquitoes that have been manipulated into the ecosystem and dramatically lowering the number of mosquitoes.
However, extinction of mosquitoes is a matter of closer examination.

In fact, there are only about 10 species of mosquito bites.
If mosquitoes are extinct, the ecosystem of migratory birds eating mosquitoes, the ecosystem of the upper predator eating migratory birds, and the ecosystem of the upper-stage predator will also collapse.

  • Could it be dangerous?
In fact, research ethics debate about Chrispr is hot.
Scientists say it is only one or two of the billions of nucleotides to change, and it is a technology for gene therapy and gene correction.
    But like manipulating human embryos
The ethical blind spot of technology that puts the desired genes at will and should not be passed easily.
That is why the general public needs to know exactly what a Crispr gene scissors is and what technology it is.

  • Let me give you a brief explanation!
First, the restriction enzyme is an internal mechanism that recognizes and cuts the DNA sequence.
This protein combines an RNA segment that recognizes the gene sequence and a protein segment that cuts the recognized sequence.
What is unique, however, is that the gene sequence recognized by the restriction enzyme has a 'translational structure'.
The 'structure of the text' refers to a character that is read the same way even if it is read forward or backward.
It means letter structure like 'race car', 'only the address of Suzhou only', and 'the roll will be rolled back.'
Surprisingly, there are many DNA sequences that have this structure in our genome.
And the fascinating collaboration of this gene sequence with the restriction enzyme is the Crispr gene scissors.
The Crisp Gene Scissors says it will completely change the lives of humankind.
It is said that the power will be stronger than artificial intelligence.

Is Crisper a disaster for mankind or a revolution?
Perhaps, if public scrutiny and social consensus on this technology is prioritized, we expect humanity to be able to transcend another singularity.
