USE YOUR MOST POWERFUL TOOL: YOUR SELF
The only way to control your destiny is through concrete actions in your life. It is impossible to live to the fullest if you, yourself never participate in living your life. You can either be a distant observer of your life as it unfolds or you can get involved in molding your future. Make the decision to control your life by controlling the way you think and the way you react. External forces have little or nothing to do with the quality of your life if you know how to handle your thoughts and response. Confronted with difficult challenges, some people will survive while others give up. This depends on how you handle the one powerful instrument that you are equipped with: yourself. What life does to you, it does to everyone. What you do with life makes you different from everyone else. It all depends on how you take care of your current situations. People who enjoy and are grateful with what they, tend to have more initiatives to improve their life and make the most out of the little things they possess.
You are your greatest asset and your greatest source of fulfillment when you know how to make use of yourself.
HANDLE THE MOMENT WELL
Today is the most important day of the year. The rest of the days depend on it. If you live well today, you can be sure you have a happy past to look back to and a bright future lies ahead of you. Do not waste your time regretting about the past. Regretting is wasting your present time. Do not as well live in fear because you never know what lies ahead and you never can tell what will become of you. There is power in the “now”. Today is the only time when you can use such power. You do not even have to maximize that power. Just learn how to handle it wisely. Wisdom lies in the ability to live the moment. You cannot go back in time now can you make a giant leap to the moon to anticipate the future. It is handling experiences they come that makes the difference; and experiences come one at the time.
Certainly, the past affects who we are now. While we can learn from the past, we do not have to be prisoners of it. It is the only moment where we can be genuinely happy.
CREATE YOUR DAY
Do not react. Respond. Reacting is allowing circumstances to create your day. You will do well more with your personal creation than with reaction. Create your day by panning your activities. Condition yourself better the night before. Anticipate the inconveniences in your routines. When you realize that you can create your day, nothing can stop you from choosing happiness. When you choose to be happy, usually life respond to you by giving you more reasons to be happy.
GIVE A WARM SMILE
Every smile is chance to experience life better. Often, it gives the recipient a good feeling and softens even stranger’s aching heart. Smile even if the world would not smile back. Happiness is more than a feeling. It is a state, a condition, a position that you choose to assume. Surely, it is not enough to simply have a smiling face. Happiness is part of your whole being. It is right inside you. Your smile is but one manifestation of the mental state that is actually going on right in your mind.
Did you try smiling even when you are in pain? It sounds like crazy but it helps you ease the discomfort you feel. Smile at people. Sometimes you need yo take the risk. Smile even when others would not really want to smile back. Have a ready smile on your face all the time. It is free. It is healthy. It is beneficial for those who are around you. It sets the mood for greater things. Definitely, there will be times when it is almost next to impossible to put on a happy face. Use your imagination. Recall something funny and then give your heart-warming smile.
BE MORE TOLERANT
Observe what causes your anger. Is it the traffic? Is it the crowded train station? Some people do not want to fall in line even if they are lining up for food. Probably you have witnessed someone jumped up and tore his clothes out of frustration because he has been waiting for more than an hour for the bank teller to call his number. In the day-to-day scenario, you can always find reasons to get out of control: traffic rage, bank rage, canteen rage and you probably had an experience of comfort room rage and flight delayed rage. Ask yourself, “If I have more patience, tolerance and understanding in every given situation, will be save from a lot of trouble? And the answer is yes.
