Have you ever thought how long would like to live? I did. And I’ve come up with a number. 150. One hundred and fifty years old. Or more, I wouldn’t mind.
Reading this, you would probably think: “This guy is crazy”. And you probably are right, because this is the reaction I’m getting from a lot of people when I’m saying this to them. Especially since I’m thinking about this in my twenties.
But, let’s think a little bit about the possibility. It is possible for me to live up to 150 years? I would say yes. The older people right now are almost 120.According to Wikipedia, the oldest person in the world is 117, born in 1899. So if a person born in 1899, could live 117 years, why not a person like me, born in 1990, live to 150.
I have strong genes. Relatives from both sides, mother and father, have lived up to their 90's. So at least, I have the genetic background to support my claims.
The next question is what the hell would you do in this time? Some people don’t know what to do after they reach 60-70 years. They would be happy just to reach this age. But me? I’m a writer, so I would just write all the things that are crossing my mind. Plus, I have a bunch of projects and things that I want to do. And all of these I come up with just in 26 years. Imagine how much I will learn in the years to come. Time is the best teacher.
This started as a joke one day in the office, but I was thinking to open a school. After I reach 100. Probably I will be bald by the time and I will tell people to call me Professor S. And yes, my school will be one for gifted children.
Sometimes, living a long life seems like a challenge for most of us. Inevitably, we will lose the loved one's, family and friends. We will see how to world change, we will see new technologies appear, the old ones that we are familiar with, will disappear. Living a centenary is scaring us, because of the uncertainty. But for me, I think it will be fun. It will be challenging but fun.
What do you think? It would be possible? Or is just a fool’s dream?

Why not
I'm shooting for 90-120 for natural lifespan, by which time I'm hoping radical life extension technology like Whole Brain Emulation will be available.
