I met a lady crying in her car at the gas pump this morning. I asked if she was okay and she asked if I knew where a Church was. She had been leaving an abusive spouse and was looking to get gas money to go to a mission. I gave her the 3 dollars and some change that I had in my pocket and said "good luck". As I drove away I slumped in my seat a bit feeling like an asshole for how quickly I threw money at her and dismissed the woman. I didn't do it out of malice, I just was in such a hurry. Where did I really HAVE TO be? Why is it so hard for us to take a few minutes to help our neighbor and maybe just listen for a minute? If we were all a little more conscious of this, the world could without a doubt be a better place. A little love and compassion can go a long way.
