Woodstock Festival: Where did the peace and love go?

Forty-seven years on, how the hippie dream peddled by the Woodstock Festival was doomed to fail.

47 years ago today, 400,000 people showed up to a New York farm for the greatest music festival of all time

Sarah Jacobs Business insiders

This August marks the 47th anniversary of the famed Woodstock Music and Art Festival, which took place on Max Yasgur's 600-acre farm in Bethel, New York.Every notable musician of the time, from Jimi Hendrix to Janis Joplin, played during the three-day festival. Even with 400,000 attendees, zero reports of violence were made to the police during or after the festival, and with two babies reportedly born on the premises, it certainly was a weekend of peace, love, and music.

   MY OPINION:

The Woodstock festival took place in 1969. this was a very memorable age when the tiny lines between "straight" society and the so-called counter-culture were at their deepest, over Vietnam, civil rights, feminism and drug use among other revolution in values.

 However the question remains:

Where did the peace and love go?

Well, in order to answer to this question, first we have to analyze how the hippy movement was developed and who was behind it.

Have you ever heard about The Laurel Canyon as being part of a huge undercover operation run by The Military-Industrial Complex the goal of which was to infiltrate, and subsequently neutralize the “hippie movement”? Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, right?  The CIA, MK-ULTRA, and murder.Well, Laurel Canyon, in California sets the scene for one of the greatest and not so known conspiracy theories of recent times.

Regardless of this conspiracy we always have to make this question: "Cui Bono?" Who Benefits? The hippy movement was very beneficial for Lyndon Bullshit Johnson & Richard Murderous Nixon because their administrations were using the hippies as a model of the worst values that any human could have and the members of the conservative society didn't want to be labeled as hippies therefore these people would not involve in the movements against Vietnam's war. Wasn't it ingenious of the government to create a group of crazy people that nobody wanted to be related to? THE STUPID GOVERNMENT did not know that those hippies created by the establishment were going to become the greatest generation of critical thinkers in the history of the United States.

Is it naive to think that the hippy movement was really organic? Who knows, maybe the real hippies are still wondering what happened with the peace, love and rock & roll, all these beautiful things of the past that have been replaced with the modern MSM garbage that is worthless but everybody loves. Lol.

Thanks for reading.

I appreciate your blog for mentioning Woodstock, the concerns it raised and continues to raise; and also for making me think, but I can't whole-heartedly agree with some of your assertions, namely wasn't it ingenious of the government to create a group of crazy people that nobody wanted to be related to?
This may be coming from some need to stroke some ego vibe of mine, but I happen to have corresponded with Alex del Zoppo, (songwriter, keyboard wizard, and male singer with SWEETWATER, the first band on stage and soundcheck for Woodstock that weekend) on several occasions in recent years. Alex still continues to carry the message on a personal level and be actively engaged in the music and songwriting scene in L.A. He is an inspiration to many and offers active encouragement to the next generation of songriters. Nancy Nevins, Sweetwater's lead female singer, now teaches English for some many years. If you do a search for her on FB, you will see she still carries the hippy flame and idealology from those days.
These people were my Heroes, still are, will continue to be.
If the government "created" them, they did a damn good job, cause they are still 'acting the part' 47 years on; despite many changes in administration in between. Thanks for your contribution. The Love is still here. You just have to look for it. I lot of it is coming to Steemit. Peace :)
P.S. Had to edit this, my spelling isn't great on occasion.

@davidbrogan Thank you very much for your replay to my post. I turned my pc off after I post it but check the steemit site on my phone and I saw your comment, I had to turn it back on to answer you about your comment:

Of course I was making fun of the stupid government thinking in this way. Even if I was born in 1968 and I was a baby when Woodstock took place, my entire life has been molded with the hippy ideals of peace & love. Most of my friends are hippies from different countries and my own daughter loves everything related with the hippy music and style. Just to finish this replay I want to use a false dilemma logical fallacy Gerorge Bush's Style:
IF YOU DO NOT RELATE WITH THE HIPPIES THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE ENEMY.
Peace brother.
