Human Mind Under The Influence Of Limitless Distractions

We’re running away from ourselves, one distraction at a time. Incapable of resting still in the absence of stimuli, we’ve trained our mind to jump around looking for something - absolutely anything - to fill the nothingness of the moment. Now equipped with a device that no longer leaves our side, even asleep, we are forever free from the all too painful task of confronting our disturbed mind. Why observe my thoughts, when I can observe my phone? While the sun may set every night, the horizon of distractions surely doesn’t leave us alone in the dark at night.

Everything around us is meant to push us further away from ourselves. Society knows too well that it has to keep man’s mind busy at all cost. That’s why we go to work, watch tv, go to the movies, check our phones relentlessly, use all sorts of substances to forget about the insanity going on in our mind. And here we are, stuck in a vortex of distractions that keep on increasing the distance between who we think we are, and who we truly are.

Even if forced to sit in a room with nothing but our thinking mind and our own company, we will search for something outside of us to make this moment less terrifying. Coping with boredom is already a tough mission, you’re crazy if you think a human can endure tolerating the music playing inside his own psyche on top of it.
