We've headed off to Norfolk for a few days away. A chance to clock off and do some exploring in an area of the UK where we've done very little to date.
We're renting a very nice house via Airbnb. It's a bit quirky with odd shaped rooms, random furniture and floors that creak, but it's spacious and overall it's ideal for our short stay.
We arrived at around 4pm yesterday after a fairly mammoth 5 hour drive. It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK so the service stations and roads were fairly packed as people were on the move to get out and about and enjoy the long weekend.
After a relaxing evening, we decided to get an early night so we settled our two dogs down for the night in the kitchen (no dogs allowed upstairs which is perfectly fine).
And after about two hours, it started...
woof, woof, woof, woof
Arthur, our golden retriever, was evidently feeling anxious.
I went down to settle him. He was panting. All worked up.
New house (to him), strange (new) traffic sounds (to him), not knowing where we are (as he ain't allowed upstairs)
All in all, it was a recipe for disaster. And boy did it play out that way...
He had a barking session every 1-2 hours from 10pm to 6am!
Here I am at 9am, bleary-eyed, thinking about how to tackle tonight as we simply can't have a repeat performance, otherwise we'll go insane (potentially the neighbours too, eek!).
Hoping it's just that he's not used to the house and after today he will become more settled. Otherwise, I fear I will have to sleep on the sofa in the lounge for the night to be with them and to help settle them!
The dog days definitely ain't yet over for us on this trip....
Yay! 🤗
