I think you are totally missing the point here. Steemit goes beyond a social media platform that exists solely to make a quick buck. Steemit is a blockchian-based social medial platform that rewards its members for their MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTIONS to the community. Think for a moment, in our worldly societies, information is worth millions, same applies to Steemit. Meaningful, quality contributions by member are valued and are rewarded. This brings in more members and the platform (community) becomes stronger and stronger. As the author says Steemit is going global and in future may indeed transcends individual governments on our world. Which may indeed revolutionize geo-politics, economies and societies as we know today. I suggest you invest some time in reading the Steem whitepaper authored by Daniel Larimer et. al.
