Your experience at start-up is quite interesting and similar to that of some of us. In addition to what you experienced, I also had tremenduos fear of the unknown. In fact, this kept me away from starting my business when I first had the inclination and urge to commence.
The second key challenge I had was the thought that I wasn't ready because a few factors were not in place yet. This dragged on for about two years until I read somewhere that the best approach was to commence and fix the shortcomings as the business grew. I took the advice and it worked.
Finally, I will add that it doesn't matter how well-read you are, how well-prepared you are, or how 'ready' you think you are, there are some challenges you will definitely face whenever you commence your business. The truth is that nothing beats experience. Therefore, start that business or project whenever you need to start, irrespective of all the factors not being set because there's never a day all the factors will be perfectly set.
And one last thing. If you must succeded in your venture, be willing to borrow, beg or steal to see your business grow because when the storm of challenges start blowing you need the deepest stamina and self-confidence to weather it through.
