Differences in climate have to account for something as far as how societies develop, there is a large difference in how social attitudes form in countries nearer or further away from the equator worldwide. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're much less likely to survive if you aren't socially cohesive when the weather isn't good year-round. Long-term planning is a necessity when harsh winters hit.

Yeah thats true. Though humans natural climate is nearer the equator. There you didn't need to plan as much because food was abundant and you didn't need to worry about clothing. Now this is sort of irrelevant as nearly all civilizations regardless of the climate follow a North Atlantic cultural order.

I would say there are still vestiges and pockets of slower-paced cultures, work-oriented cultures have accumulated enough resources and firepower to run the rest of the world over though.
