DINAGSA FESTIVAL OF CADIZ CITY NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
Philippines is a very colorful country. From biodiversity to fashion to politics and of course its culture. With the many festivals all across the 7,000+ islands of the country there is one I particularly attend to. Yearly if possible. The Dinagsa Festival of Cadiz City. Dinagsa is a yearly celebration of the feast of Snr. Sto. Niño. It's Cadiz City's counterpart of the Sinulog of Cebu.
I happen to know about the festival because I was once working at Cadiz City for 6years. Due to the long time I had able to join the celebration and with friends I still have in the place that is why I try to attend when its possible.
One of the festivals celebration is the colorful culture of the Ati people, an indigenous tribe of the country. You may be wondering why we are all covered with paint? Yes! That's paint! Roaming around the city during the festival day means you are joining Lamhitanay.
Lamhitanay is what makes the entire festival experience worth the travel! People on the street would smother paint to those walking around. And you can't say no, being out there celebrating means you are part of the activity.
Yeah its messy and all but its fun! Having to enjoy life with just anybody you could bump with along the way. Meeting new friends and be all one in celebrating.
Your hands would end up the messiest but who cares? You can wash all of it after but the memories you made would last a lifetime!
So what are you waiting for? Book that flight now and be prepared for next years Dinagsa Festival! Hope to see you on there on the street!
