The "problem" with most of our societal issues right now is that most everyone forgot that compromise is essential, and always has been. No one ever got what they wanted, every time, all the time. But people today look at things in terms of black and white, and ignore the grey. My president didn't get elected so now I'll cry. Someone is removing a statue so now I'll complain.
Today, when you disagree with something, you can turn on news that agrees with you and read stuff that only similar thinking people write. We go on Facebook and "like" stuff that supports our side and blast things that don't. We are in an age of instant gratification, and have become spoiled. This is not one political party or the other. It isn't one race or the other. It isn't old, young, or in between. It's ALL of the above. I have acquaintances from many walks of life, and the finger pointing is universal.
The "It's not me, it's you!" mentality exists across the board.
"Seek first to understand, then to be understood." One of the best lines I've ever read. A little empathy goes a long way. It's OK for things not to be 100% the way you want them. More likely it's a great thing. That's how a society, especially a democratic one, works.
