Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) has tied up with a UK private company to start manufacturing polythene (JuteL) production from jute on commercial basis.
A memorandum of understanding was signed in presence of Jute Minister Mirza Azam and senior secretary of the Jute Ministry Fazur Rahman Chowdhury at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
BJMC secretary AKM Tarek on behalf of BJMC and General Manager of the company Prof. Kouillhard signed the agreement on the behalf of UK-based private firm Phutura Chemical at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding signed at Jute Ministry. BGMC chairman said. Md. Mahmudul Hasan and inventor of polythene making from jute Mobarak Hossain was also present.At the signing ceremony, Mirza Azam said, "Plasticine production will start commercially from within 6 to 9 months." Initially, the price of this polythene bag will be slightly higher than the normal polythene. But the price will be adjusted when production increases.
Dr. Jubilee of Mubarak Ahmed Khan invented BJMC has tied up with the UK's Futumura Company in its commercial production. Mirza Azam said, "The name of this polythene bag made from jute will be 'golden bag'.
This is the honorable Prime Minister's own choice name. Jute made polythene bags will be known in this world all over the world. "The minister said, "When we took charge of the government, the number of products produced from jute was 35." At present, the number of products produced from jute is 285. Once known as Golden Fiber (golden fiber), this jute will be known as the Golden Bar in the future.
In response to a question from the journalists, the minister said, "The demand for gold bags in the market will be huge. If we can produce 500 tons of golden bags every day, then 500 tons can be marketed.
