Sometimes you just have one of those perfect days. Intensity, relaxation, challenges, creativity, community. We had a great day at Cedar Shores Waterpark and Cedar Point Amusement Park after walking Cooper and getting to know some new neighbors down the street. Cheyenne surprised me and didn't give into fear, but rather challenged herself on many new rides today (started off with the Blue Streak coaster two weeks ago, then called it quits).
So we started off trying our luck on the Corkscrew. This ride she was just over the minimum height and despite asking me if she should really try the ride, decided to suck it up and throw on the belt, pull down the harness and throw all her chips to take the ride.
She took it well and thought it was easier than the Blue Streak ( although this was her first going upside down coaster). After the Matterhorn (not a challenge), we hit the Mine Ride, which is an old standard easy coaster that she really enjoyed:
Next, we waded in "The Wave" which is essentially a huge pool which in between 10 minute breaks, has huge waves (well, huge is a relative term) which go up to 10 to 12 feet. It was 74 degrees with no sun, so I really didn't wanna stay in there too long. The first challenge was getting her to go on a slide. We decided on a tube slide and after a bit of hesitation, we tried this bohemith:
Sure enough, as history showed me, once she goes down the slide, or on the roller coaster, she's fine with going on the ride again. So, yeah, went down the slide again.
The next one was a huge slide that was quite a workout walking to the top of (and yes, I stupidly brought our towels, which got soaked). It fits about 4 or 5 people on a raft which goes down this huuuuge chute, and I kept on feeling like I was going to fall off the slide. Anyways, Chey and I and another kid went on there and were able to make it through this ride:
By this time, confidence was sky high. We tested out our courage on one of the larger setups. This was right next to the auto drop slides which were free fall slides (not ready for that yet) but a step in the right courage direction (the yellow and white ones were the ones we went down) I snapped a pic of this one after drying off:
After all that, we were tired, so we ate an early dinner on the beach. Watched some Ryan Higa on my mobile phone, told stories and did some sand art. Decided to capture some of it, which I did below:
Not the greatest day for beach/water park with those overcast skies, but we made the best of it:
What a fun day at the amusement park and beach. Hey, I'll take an overcast day if I'm at the beach, currently landlocked :)
