Joy is something that is hard to describe, yet you know when you feel it. It can build over time or come on in an instant. Sometimes you look away for a second and it is right in front of you and undeniable.
But it is also sometimes easy to catch. Sometimes finding it is so difficult that you wonder if it really exists.
And sometimes when you find it, holding onto it is extremely hard. You must use both hands and all of your might and even then, it can slip through your fingers.
If you wonder what the difference is between joy and happiness, here are the two definitions according to the Webster-Merriam dictionary.
Joy:
A feeling or state of well-being and contentment
A source of great satisfaction
Happiness:
A state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.
So joy is the top end range of happiness. It is that feeling you get when you are in utter excitement about being happy.
We need more joy in the world today because joyful people are loving people and loving people make everything better for themselves and everyone else.
So my message today is to find those things that bring you joy. Whatever it may be, get plenty of it and cause it to grow until it gets so big that it covers the world and all of the bad things in it.
By doing this, we fulfill our goal for being here on this planet at this time. The best part is that it costs you nothing and the more you give the more you get.
