Channels I watch on Youtube - The Movies and Music list...

in #life7 years ago

I've been stuck in the past for quite a while now, talking of days gone by like some sort of old person. No idea why really, it's just kinda happened that way so I thought I'd write about something more current - Youtube and the Channels I watch on it!

Youtube has been my primary source of news and entertainment for nearly eight years now. I've only had an account on it for the past few years, finally succumbing to the whole idea of automatically keeping up with the channels I like rather than having to search for them individually. I watch a whole cacophony of subjects on Youtube so just to start us off slowly I've picked some of my favourites. These guys either produce Music or Movie content. They are generally funny as I believe life is too short to be swallowed by the serious monster and I really hope that after reading you consider subscribing to at least one of them. But first let me introduce you to Hal.

High Energy Hal

Hal Rudnick is the only reason I have the Screen Junkies channel in my subscriptions. I can't quite define why I enjoy the content he produces the most. I wish I knew so I could explain it. Hal reminds me of Krillin from Dragonball, he's all about the energy. He has a great range of facial expressions and isn't afraid of laughing at himself. He's my favourite Movie Fights fighter, I nearly always agree with the answers he gives. In his most recent fight the first question was "What movie character would make the best Shark Tank judge?" His answer? Wilder's Willy Wonka. I've never seen Shark Tank but I got the idea it was an Apprentice kinda thing where contestants try to persuade rich people to invest in them? Hal's argument that Willy Wonka was the most sucessful businessman out of the three given seemed water tight to me.

I know Hal doesn't look like Krillan, he just reminds me of him ...

He also has his own show on the channel where he covers various topics including the video linked above. Maybe that's why I like him so much, he obviously loves his Mum. Sometimes he has other guests on with him, sometimes he's on his own but his video's are always funny and informative. Well worth a watch!

James

If you've spent any time on the internet over the last decade you have probably encountered James. Maybe you know him for his most famous role as the Angry Video Game Nerd or perhaps the first time you heard of him was his refusal to watch Ghostbusters 2016 - a move that actually had him covered by the mainstream media. If you like slightly childish and vulgar comedy AVGN is for you my friend. He covers many of the games I've discussed, done episodes on movie tie ins that should never have been - he really hates The Karate Kid NES game - and once he landed on an aircraft carrier using only a power glove.

Here we see James surrendering to the Wheelers with the appropriate amount of panic on his face.

His movie reviews are another thing altogether. James is a massive move nerd. He particularly enjoys Japanese monster movies - Godzilla and Mothra - and 1950's Hammer Horrors. Even if those aren't your cup of tea I can almost guarentee he'll have talked about one of your favourite movies. His Return to Oz review hit all my nostalgia buttons (I'm doing it again ... sorry!).

Benny!

Benny Davis is probably the most talented musician you've never heard of. Okay, if you're reading this in Australia you MIGHT have heard of the band he's in - The Axis of Awesome - but maybe you didn't know just how talented he his when he's on his own. Benny is a classically trained musician[1] who wrote most of the songs for AoA. His channel is small ish in comparison to some which makes me sad, it means he's not even remotely appreciated enough.

He also does a damm fine Gaga impression (Link)

I'll tell you a secret. When I was 10 I dreamed of being a musician. I learnt to read music at 6, was given a flute at 8 which I proceeded to teach myself to play. I've had singing lessons (much to my Dad's disgust - he wanted me to have Maths tutoring so I could be an Accountant) and got to sing in some of the UK's most beautiful theatre's. I love Benny and want him to get the recognition he deserves for doing what I couldn't. For turning his love of music and talent for it into a real career. While I'm singing to my cat in my kitchen, Benny and his Melodica should be entertaining the world.

Dan

Just realised I'd better include a Brit in this list lest you think you have the monopoly on my Youtube bucks - I'm talking to you America! And really I've saved the best for last (hah!) because Dan Bull rocks. Well actually he raps, he raps good. He raps about computer games and social trends. He has rapped open letters to both Tony Benn[2] and Lilly Allen. His song How to Choose Between Millibands accurately reflects the way many of us felt during that period of the Labour Party.

Also, it is advisable to not give him Brocolli

Other higlights on his channel include WatchDogs, Generation Gaming, and Love Letter to Hillary Clinton. He also sold himself on ebay once for victims of the conflict in Syria. He said he'd write a song on any subject for the highest bidder. He ended up rapping about Sewing Equipment.

So that's the end of my rundown of Movie and Music related content. Might do another one, it's entirely possible I forgotten people who should be on here. ERB and CinemaSins for instance ... Anyway, if you go check out any of the channels I've mentioned why not tell them you found them through Steemit. Maybe it will tempt some of them here.
Adios until next time! x

[1] I'd love to give citation for that but I can't find one but I know I read or heard it somewhere.

[2] Famous for being in the Labour Party in the UK

Do you watch, Good Mythical Morning? Great daily talk show that is fun and light hearted. I'll link to it here.

I have watched it yes! Funnily enough one of my Facebook friends mentioned them the other day. It reminds me a lot of The Big Breakfast from the 90's :D

haha, yeah that opening is very reminiscent.
