Interesting. Well written. I am disappointed though because this didn't make me angry enough lol!

I think you make a good point here though:

examine the conversations you have had with them in the past. You will find that they are bit anarchic, statist, feminist, religious, atheist, humanist depending on the context of the conversation

Though we like to think of ourselves as single consistent contained entity. - We are actually a group of different, sometimes discrete, sometimes integrated, often quite different personas.

We switch between these depending on the situation. The idea of the individual in it's current form is limited and does not take account of this.

This may also reflect the pathological state of our society in some sense. We must try to be all things to all people essentially.

We are also caught in the impossible double bind which derives from the fact that we are constantly being told that:

1)Individuality and originality is important. Be Yourself.
2)You must conform and be part of the group.

Since one must be both and that being both is a factual impossibility we end up in the current situation.

People don't know how to think or act so they turn to the self-appointed leaders to decide for them.
