So yesterday was the wife’s birthday!
Jodie turned the same age as me, 26, and this was the 8th birthday I’ve shared with her as my lady aquaintance.
You start to appreciate the much simpler things the longer you are with someone. And enjoy true quality time outside of birthday balloons and over the top gifts. But of course, I treat my lady anyway.
But that’s the problem, what to get as a gift?!
I purchased custom made card a month ago, the pop up kind. It had two lovers stood on a bridge next to a hand made pop out willow tree (our daughter is called Willow) and she was over the moon with that. And I was also impressed I’d managed something so impressive and unique!
But the gift! What to buy?!
I procrastinated, as I normally do. For weeks.
And then it came to 3 days before the big day.
We were headed to a friends house for the weekend, I ran out of time, so I went out, and looked for inspiration.
I found it in something random. A hair brush to start. You see my wife and daughter have a close bond, one you can’t imagine the power of, and they love playing together, and especially brushing each other’s hair!
Women love hair being played with, I think it’s a human thing in general to get a form of feel good from hair being messed about. So her and Willow got matching rose gold hair brushes! Boom gift 1 complete
Now I needed something else. But I couldn’t just get any old thing. So I thought, what does she love as much as me?
Coffee!
Cue the lookout for a new mug for m’lady. Now if you know me, I love a good mug, whether it be funny or cool or practical enough to keep a hot drink at its intended temperature. So I found one for me. And it said... Mr. C on it! I loved it so much but I couldn’t treat myself on my wife’s birthday...
So I bought her one too!!
Birthday success, happy wife and I got a new mug, pat on the back time?
In all honesty, we’ve been looking for matching mugs since we tied the knot back in 2014, but could never agree on a style or pair, that search is now complete and we can sit and enjoy coffee together which is one of our most favourite things to do on a date, and we can do it in style as Mr and Mrs C.
It’s the simple things that can make a gift special, as long as there is thought behind it, it’s special.
And it’s has our names on it, can’t argue with that.

Nothing is as sweet as spending time with your family. I am very sure your wife will be happy and appreciative of your gift. If only all men could treat their women like a queen.

Its lovely to see such thought going into your wifes Birthday presents and card. I bet she was thrilled, especially with the card and the willow tree, that was so sweet!. I find buying presents so hard, especially for my parents who are in the 70's/early 80's as they have everything they want in life
