The thought of being a grandmother didn’t really take me by surprise, but I suppose it always seemed a likely event of the not-so-near future. Am I that old? How did my children become adults when I still feel like I’m in high school? Often I feel like I still need to grow up! (NEVER!) Nonetheless, I am ecstatic about this change!!
When my oldest daughter told me she was pregnant, I was excited for her and for the new arrival, although it was unplanned. Life is a precious gift, no matter the circumstances. I have a grandson in Texas, and I’ve yet to meet the handsome little feller, as I’ve been pretty much tied to my care giving role for my partner who has dementia. He has been placed in an assisted living facility, which breaks my heart, but I know I have other aspects of my life to focus on as well. On to being a granny!
Meet eight month old Carson :
My youngest daughter is in her last month of pregnancy now, and she asked me, “What do you want the baby to call you?” Granny? Grandma? Nana? (yeah… Nana… Nana Banana maybe) Abuela? Ah, it matters not. What matters is that I’m going to spoil him rotten!! As all grandmothers to be I’m sure, I simply hope for a safe delivery and a healthy new addition to our family. I suppose those gray hairs upon my noggin will count for something now.

Truly, I am blessed.

This is such a treat! You are truly blessed... I am yet to be called nana (can't wait but am still very far :D ) but I know it's a huge blessing. My mum passed at my current age (33) so mine never got to meet their grandma. I truly pray that I will be gifted with long life to experience your joy currently :)

So sorry to hear of your partner's problems. Does one say congrats on being a granny??? I think so, so
CONGRATS! LOL
Why, thank you kind sir :D
Tina, congratulations! I know how hard it is for a woman to adjust to being called a grandmother. My wife, Deb, went through this - especially when my son wanted her to be called Nanny. It was left up in the air until little Grace was old enough to talk. What did she call Deb? Grandmom. Such an honour!
Thanks John! :)
If nana banana is taken you could always try "nana nana BATMAN," that should get people talking. :)
Heehee... I like it!! :D
Aww you are blessed!! You enjoy those young 'uns !!
I sure will!! Thanks! :)
