Throwback to my powerlifting days

I‘ve always had strong legs and back relative to my size, so deadlifting was a good exercise for me.

When I was young and strong, I used to compete in powerlifting competions

Here’s a video of my winning lift at the South East England Championship in 2011.

Good shit. Do you ever do heavy rack pulls? Probably the best exercise hands down for upper back and trap development. Only downside is it has virtually no carry-over to the deadlift.

Thanks. Yes, I used to do heavy rack pulls. My best was 300kg / 660 lbs from below the knees.
I agree that’s it’s the best upper back exercise. It did actually help a lot with my deadlift because I got used to carrying a lot weight, so dropping down to a lower weight from the floor seemed easy.

Yeah, usually knee level or below and you get more carry over; anything above the knee has less carry over. But I get what you're saying and you're probably right, if not at least from a psychological point of view, holding some heavy ass weight even for a short ROM makes pulling from t he floor seem easier.
