Right from our childhood, our parents and teachers do their best to teach us about the good habits so that we can live a happy and healthy life. We are told to go early to bed, rise up early, eat our veggies, respect people, study and do our work in time and be nice to people in general.
Whenever we drifted towards some bad habits, we were scolded and brought back on track. But as adults, we have to do that on our own now and while some people do a good job of staying away from harmful habits, some people plunge into them head first.
There are many habits however, that are considered bad and we tend to stay from them but they are actually good for us. I know, good and bad in the same sentence? Well, read on to find out what these habits are.
1. Not Taking A Bath Everyday
So, when someone says that they didn’t take a bath today, we will most likely look down on them because taking a bath literally means cleanliness and not bathing the exact opposite.
So, taking bath everyday is something that most people try to do. But, it is completely okay to skip a shower every now and then. Not only does it save water but it might also be good for your skin.
When we take bath daily, the natural oils and good bacteria on our skin are washed away which take some time to regenerate. The natural oils keeps our skin hydrated and supple so, without these, we might end up with dry and dull skin.
2. Daydreaming
Whether it is at school or at work, daydreaming is considered as a sign of an unfocused person and while that may be true for the work at hand, daydreaming is actually really good for you.
In fact, we should all allow our minds to drift off in an imaginative world every now and then. There have been studies conducted on the same which state that daydreaming can actually increase your problem solving skills.
Researchers say that while we are daydreaming, the part of the brain that works on problem solving gets more active and so that helps improve our skill. Plus, it also enhances your creativity.
3. Eating Chocolates
Chocolates are like guilty pleasures for everyone who is trying to be health conscious or even lose weight. They have lots of calories in them and eating even a little bit means more time at the gym for you.
I personally don’t like eating chocolates but I’m in the minority for sure. Most people in the world love chocolates and hate the fact that they can’t enjoy it without having to think about their health.
But there is good news for you. Chocolates contain lots of antioxidants that are really good for the body. It also prevents blood clots and also is a source of instant energy.
4. Getting Up Late
This is something I am always grilled for by everyone, especially family and I’m sure you are too if you are a night owl. People always suggest that we should sleep early and wake up early.
But waking up late has its benefits too. According to some studies, it helps in better organisation of your memory which helps to improve your long term memory.
It also makes your ability to learn better. And night owls are considered to be smarter and more intelligent according to several studies. So, it’s ok if you have this habit. Just make sure you reach work or school on time!
very nice @travel-cuisine
I could agree to the number 3 and 4 but as far as 1 and 2 are concerned..... Doing those two things when my African mother is around will the greatest mistake you can ever make in your life.
Speaking from experience though
I like chocolate with no milk and limited sugar or no sugar added.
But we must change our bad habbits
Is number 4 relating to duration of sleep or to the get-up time? I'd be guessing having a sufficient sleep at regular times is probably more important than the actual time you get up.
It doesn't really surprise me that night owls tend to perform better. Being awake while others are asleep and not having all the daytime distractions surely can help you focus more on your tasks.
