Have you ever asked yourself this question? Self-control of emotions, empathy, and the ability to motivate oneself are some of the factors that make up emotional intelligence. But what is emotional intelligence?
This concept is understood as: "The ability of people to recognize feelings, learn to manage them, be motivated and properly manage interpersonal relationships"
- After a discussion, for example, do you evaluate if you have had self-control?
Self-control is that ability we have to reflect and dominate our feelings; know how to detect which emotions are ephemeral or permanent. Imagine that you argue with your partner, it is self-control that determines that despite that small problem your emotions are still there.
- Let's talk now about empathy, or recognition of the emotions of others.
Remember that there are many types of communication; we will speak in this case of the verbal and non-verbal. Something that I find amazing is the body language, knowing by means of gestures or postures the state of the other person is something simply fascinating.
Being able to perceive and recognize emotions of others is the first step to understand and identify with others, empathy is the ability to put ourselves in the place of the other person and know how to feel. Here 3 traits of them.
- They are more sensitive than others
- Empaths "soak" the emotions of others
- They are intuitive people
Are you an empathic person?
- Ability to motivate oneself
Do you focus on achieving your goals in the obstacles that arise? Being able to focus emotions towards the achievement of objectives and goals is a great help in the whole process of growing.
Motivation is the force that drives us to achieve our goals. Try to think positive!
I wanted to talk about this topic because I find it super interesting, and I am currently developing a project on emotional intelligence in organizations.
