Which Box?
The box is the boundary between what we know and what we are yet to think about. This is created by genetic conditions, the environment, educational backgrounds, personal experiences. These things build a wall of thought inside our minds leaving some other options unexplored and unperceived. Hence, whenever we think within those boundaries are for us the safest options because of the assurance we tend to derive from those boundaries of thought.
How to think outside the box.
Reality is existing for our perception on this basis, we therefore have an area of focus in our perception of what is and what should be based on the aspect of reality we leave in. We are often scared to go outside. Our idea of life is often simply based on our experience hence we build the framework of our lives over that restricted space while refusing to expand our reach into the abstract concept of possibility and chances. If we must go out of the box, we must add to our perception something that transcends the convergent information we receive from our aspect of reality. This is DIVERGENT INFORMATION. This is the mechanism that enables us to move from what we know to what we are yet to think about. This enables us to get to a point of “long thinking”. Hence, we can look at the larger picture, connect with the bigger array of options, be open minded, fluent and be in search of alternatives rather than the “correct answer”.
With this, we find our brains flush with information, ideas and alternatives on dealing with problems and most times, this culminates into that eureka moment where we actually find the answers we need.
