9/11 , the day the world shook up...

in #life6 years ago

I got triggered by a post from @brittandjosie

Today it is 17 years ago since the 9/11 disaster. I remember comming home from work and put the TV on, couldn't believe (like so many) that this was happening for real.

Although many bad things are happening in our world, this felt (for some strange reason) so close even while we live in Holland.

In 2016 we visited New York and we went to the memorial on the place where once the towers stood. It was just unbelievable to unimaginable what happened there.

there was a huge silence, very impressive. A lot of people were paying their tribute.
let us ensure that this never happens again, we have to live on this planet with eachother...

Have a great day and be gentle with eachother...

I remember those events well. I was based at a TV station and it played out on the screens in the office. I was happy to not be in my usual office on the 19th floor near the airport. It really affected me. Whoever was responsible it was a terrible act. I did visit the site when it was still just a hole and before the memorial. I hope we never see anything like this again.

I fully agree with that, this may never happen again.

WoW WoW WoW I was There to it Made a big impression I was There before 9/11 too
We All need to remember 👍 well done
Great that I am an Inspiration 😉

And 16 years after the towers, the Americans have elected a president that bragged that he now has the biggest tower in New York (of course wrong) on the same day as the attack.

Who is dropping more bombs than anyone else in decades, while his country is officially in no war.

Sometimes you really wonder where the hate in many countries towards America comes from...

True that, but you expect in a civilized world to solve problems in another way.

great content.

I also upvoted.

I went to NYC a year or two after the event happened. It was pretty weird. We walked down to the site where the towers had been and back then it wasn't as fixed up. I remember we were walking around in Manhattan and there was a plane flying very low. Everyone just stopped and was looking up at the sky thinking oh no, not again. We found out that night when we watched the news it was some soldiers returning home from Afghanistan that had asked the pilot to fly closer so they could see the city. The pilot not thinking made a poor judgement call. It was crazy though.
