Want to be more productive? You need a pizza!
We all love our jobs no matter what. However, there is no denying that a little incentive here and there works wonders! Many employers reward their employees with naff treats. For example, company-branded pens, gift cards, or even just a pat on the back. Nevertheless, it seems there is one, very simple thing they are all forgetting.
Pizza.
According to psychologist Dan Ariely, author of the book Payoff: The Hidden Logic That Shapes Our Motivations, pizza could be the key to increasing productivity in the workplace.
In his study, he divided the participants into three groups of receiving one out of three different texts. Therefore, it was possible you could receive a text about getting a free pizza, a cash bonus to the equivalent of $30, or a rare compliment from the boss.
After the first day, pizza came out on top as the best motivator, increasing productivity with 6.7%. Meanwhile, those who received a compliment from the boss, also improved their productivity with 6.6%. The worst motivator in this experiment was the cash bonus.
Who would have thought? Pizza and flattery. The combination that makes you hella productive!
