All You Need Isn't A Job(Wafrica Guest Post)

in #life7 years ago

"My guy, why are you sitting helplessly like one who just lost someone?
Please come in, I'm just coming from a meeting"

Shuta said to him and watched him dust his worn out trousers, picking up his file and followed him in.

"Shuta, I am tired 😴.... This life is really frustrating. My wife is about to deliver of our third child and yet I don't have a job. How do I feed them?"

"I just got back from a job interview and of course, the story was same as usual"

"Sorry, we really appreciate you but unfortunately, this is where your journey with us have to end, you can apply for an opening again when next there's an ad. for one. Thank you for time"....He spat, trying to mimic a stern and bold voice.

"All I need is a job. If only I can get a job"

Shuta looked on at him, shook his head and smiled.

"All you need isn't a job", he started, carefully observing his frustrated friend's reaction.

Which of course was that of a surprised look.

"What do you mean Shuta? How do I take care of my family without a job?.... He said, with keen interest on what Shuta had to say.

"Yes, all you need isn't a job"
A job can only satisfy your immediate need and would only make you a slave to someone else.
All you need right now is to discover who you are

You were created for a purpose bigger than just a job.

Until you discover that purpose, you go about believing you need a job to survive when you could actually survive on your purpose.

Ask yourself these questions :

  • Who am I?

  • What is/are my passion?

  • How can I utilize this passion to generate wealth?

  • What value can I offer to people that could be rewarded?

When you have truthfully answered these questions, then we have set a pace for you.

There are many people in jobs who want out because they're not enjoying what they're doing.

I am not saying getting a job is bad, no, not at all.
I myself, worked for a while before I gained balance.

But just as they'll say....
Do not put your eggs in one basket.

That you have been applying for jobs and not getting any despite your qualifications may even be a sign that there is an even greater place prepared for you at the top.

Don't limit yourself to a job.

Work on yourself
Develop yourself
Discover you

The gifts of a man makes room for him.

If you have no gifts to offer, strange doors would open for you.

You'll be sort after and not the other way round.

While I am not dissuading you from hunting for jobs, I am only saying that you shouldn't make it the only goal for your life if you want progress.

"Thank you very much Shuta, I really do appreciate this"

10 years later, he becomes the CEO of a famous Shoe making services in the world.

He discovered his strength and developed it.

Dear Wafricans, a lot of people, especially from this part of the country, mostly youths believe that a job is the solution to all their problems.

Listen to the words of Shuta and while you're still hunting jobs, make sure you hunt out your passion too.

There is sense in every nonsense.

I hope you have been able to pick some sense even in the nonsense article.

@julietisrael thanks for this

and thanks for passing through too

Most people don't think it necessary to invest in themselves. Even if you get that job, without preparation you'd most likely fail. Great write-up. Thanks @wafrica for sharing

I guess you like it buddy

A friend once told me that salary is the bribe one is being paid to forget his dreams.
Aim higher, work higher and you will surely get a good result.

hahahaha..this is amazing

Hahaha
Very funny one but it's true
Thanks much dear

Very impressive note. Interestingly, contrary to what we used to have, am glad we now appreciate beyond reasonable doubt that Our satisfaction isnt only "White Collar " jobs. We now have an increased number of young entrepreneurs and upcoming ones, in contrast to the old "Rat-race" believe of go to shool, get a job and repeat my cirlce, this has increased the number of managers ready to take the nation to a higher ground.
I always say to some young folks whenever am opportuned to address minds and i quote myself " IF I HAD A KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT I HAVE NOW, I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOT BETTER" but its rather late than never.
This is a very useful/ resourceful post and timely too.
I love this. Cheers to you @wafrica.

Still Elisedaniels...Love for the Gospel.

I get the point @julietisrael,

My dad do tell me that a company can go as far as to giving an official car, medical insurance and a resident just to make sure you are confortable working your ass off to achieve their goals.

This message ought to be preached to all African youth!
