Our Standard of living and Social Media

Social media has very significant effect on our lives. There is no argument necessary, I think that some of us are living in social media lie. Before going on, I want to say something that most of them and I don't say much: you know, it's a shame, the best of us do not know what we are talking about, we are the ones who are actually being lied to, to our benefit in the world of internet, where there is no reason to worry about the fact that everyone seems to be doing something really good, and we do things we should. Look at yourself, if you are one of them, this writing is for you.

I've no problem if anyone buys useless products just to show off on social media or have to fake something to show off. It's their profile, it's their money. But the problem arises if this problem becomes like social issues. Let me explain the whole thing, why I think so.

There are thousands of social media influencers and social media stars. Do you have any idea how much money they make just showing you some products and talking about some services? Just google it, you will be amused. And do you think all those products and services are really important in our life, all those fancy products, and everything? We are the who actually buying those items like crazy. And we are the people made them social media influencer. Don't you think the purpose of earning our money has changed this way?

Just give it a thought, how we changed our living standard. We want to wear like a star, we want to look like a star, we want to live like a start. But we do not realize we are not in the same position and all we are doing is spending our precious money to something irrational, something less important. Ask yourself do you force yourself to buy certain things which have no real value in your life or something too expensive just because you has to show off. If the answer is Yes then you have to think twice about your life.

Of course, being authentic is wonderful, but the realization doesn't come easily. We all are living in a 'copy' era. It works like a circle. I don't know if there is any end of this total thing. Coz every marketer wants to sell its product in this consumeristic world. As long as we do not realize our situation, there is no way out.

Think about the fine line between using social media for entertainment and using it to force us to live a fake life!

Hello @waltermeth,

Reviewing your post, I found it interesting. You were curated by the HoboDAO for having a thought-provoking topic for discussion.

Many people do try to display their best selves online and often show people pictures of them dining at fancy restaurants and going to exciting events. However, you make a great point that people often spend money and time on showy things and not on essential life and spending less on stuff to obtain more time with friends and family. Great points! :)
