It's hard to misidentify these: bright orange on top, and bright yellow beneath. Some folks don't tolerate various things, from allergies or whatever, and one should only savor the outer edge of these, because the firmer inner, older portions are bitter. The margins are sublime however, and I did share them with some folks.
One of them said they hated mushrooms, but like these cuz they were like chicken. Chicken of the Woods is well named =)

With careful preparation, the tender margin can be used as is chicken in recipes, as it - get ready - tastes like chicken. Also has a similar texture to tender chicken. Just avoid the bitter inner part of the conk and most folks will love it.
