It's scary how we're all expected to forego all human interaction for the sake of the phone, now. I hate this trend of coffee shops and take-out places requiring you place orders through the app. There's this sandwich shop inside a gas station here, they have a tablet on the counter for people who don't want to use their own phones. I said to the girl making the sandwiches, "Can't I just order from you?" She said no, they don't have a cash register. You place the order through the tablet and then pay the gas station attendant.
More power to the introverts, but geez.
On the other hand I have Gen-z guys coming in my shop and telling me their life stories. All day long. Maybe they're just desperate for old fashioned conversation.
That's madness! What's odd to me is that these attendants are clueless, it seems, about the potential dangers this holds to their job security. Like, I've had several waiters now give me these bored, bothered looks when I ask for a physical menu and such. As if it's my job that's on the line. World's crazy.
I can see how that's not fun for you, but I definitely relate to your Gen-Zers. We all just really want someone who'll listen to us, don't we?
